About us

Since 1995, Words and Wires has been helping clients build, run, and maintain the digital foundations of their businesses — servers for mail, web, files, and databases that just work. Our experience with Unix and Apple platforms spans nearly four decades, giving us a unique mastery of stable, secure, and high-performance systems. We’re a small, independent Belgian company — founded, owned, and operated by the same experts who do the work. You’ll always deal directly with the people building and supporting your infrastructure. Because we use the same technologies we deliver, we’re deeply invested in their performance and reliability. Every recommendation comes from real-world experience, not a sales script. Our solutions are transparent and open. Built on Open Source technologies, they give you total ownership and flexibility — no vendor lock-in, no opaque licensing. You retain full control, always. At Words and Wires, we don’t just build systems — we build trust, through independence, expertise, and open technology that stands the test of time.

My journey with computers began at ULg’s Cyclotron Research Center, where the Apple ][ and Commodore 64 introduced me to the magic of 8-bit systems. These machines helped us process medical radioisotopes, and I was instantly captivated. Determined to explore further, I studied computing and launched a translation business to afford an Apple ][c and a Macintosh Plus. That blend of curiosity and perseverance led me deep into IT, networking, and databases—a path I’ve followed ever since.

Born into a family of self-employed professionals working in the IT field, I grew up surrounded by circuits, lines of code, and the excitement of emerging technologies. This environment sparked my curiosity and planted the seeds of a passion that would stay with me throughout my life. After working for two years as a social worker, I decided to return to school to study computer science. This allowed me to gain a broad understanding of the field. Alongside my studies, I had the opportunity to develop several large-scale projects, which helped me deepen my skills in programming, databases, networking, virtualization, and cybersecurity. Today, I regularly contribute to various tasks within the family IT business.
