Linux Desktop Software

Hardly a month goes by without another epidemic in Windows software – I love you, Melissa, Code red, Blaster, SoBig ... the list of viruses and worms attacking and corrupting Microsoft server and desktop software is depressingly long. Linux servers have always been immune to these Windows-specific parasites, but now, you can even have Linux security, stability, and immunity on the desktop.

Except for entertainment software, like the most recent games and media players, Linux has all the software available necessary to run a business. Several different Office suites can be found, including OpenOffice.Org, a polished suite designed as a drop-in replacement for Microsoft Office. OpenOffice is available now in dozens of different languages on all major platforms (Windows, Macintosh OS X, Linux, Solaris) under licensing terms that can't be beat: free of cost and Open Source.

The major impediment for Linux deployment on the desktop is that you need to be able to administer a Unix-based system like Linux before you can use it. This creates a chicken-and-egg dilemma for Linux deployment: people have to use Linux to be familiar enough to administer it, but they have to be able to administer it to be able to start using it.

We've a solution: we can deliver a computer with Linux pre-installed, along with everything you need for your office automation needs. We can fully support it as well – we run the same software on our own desktops, every day!
